At the 73rd Saitama Prefecture Arts and Culture Festival 2025 , our school's teacher Daisuke Ogino received the Governor's Award, and our students received the High School Student Encouragement Award.

Sunday, June 15 – Today, I visited the Prefectural Museum of Modern Art in Kita-Urawa. The purpose was to view the work of our calligraphy teacher, Mr. Ogino, which received the Governor's Award. The Prefectural Museum of Modern Art is located inside Kita-Urawa Park in front of Kita-Urawa Station. At this time of year, the museum uses three floors from B1F to 3F for the Saitama Art and Culture Festival (Prefectural Exhibition), and the fifth section, "Calligraphy," was displayed on the 2nd floor.

As I went up the stairs to the exhibition room on the 2nd floor, Mr. Ogino’s work "Wisteria" was displayed prominently at the front. It featured a waka poem from Ki no Tsurayuki’s "Shin Kokin Wakashū": "Though wisteria hangs on the green pine, its flowers bloom in their own season," written on two-colored paper. The interesting interplay of colors—the green of the pine, the purple of the wisteria, and the red and white of the paper—along with the richness of ink, the brushwork, and the beauty of the lines offered various perspectives for appreciation, making it a very fascinating piece to observe. Additionally, one of our students received the High School Encouragement Award, which was presented at the awards ceremony on Saturday. It is truly gratifying that the efforts of both the teacher and the students have come to fruition.

Mr. Ogino excels not only in artistry but also in teaching methods, such as improving calligraphy instruction using tablets. I believe he is an excellent educational instructor. Congratulations to Mr. Ogino on receiving the Governor's Award. We hope you will continue to contribute to enriching the learning activities of our students.
